Australian trivia questions your family actually has a shot at

If your family owns one of the classic wedge-collecting trivia board games, there's a fair chance the box that arrived in Australia was written for the other side of the world. You know the experience: someone draws a card, reads it out, and the table goes silent — because the question assumes you grew up watching British soap operas, riding British motorways, and following county cricket. The game is brilliant; the questions were just never written for us.

QuokkaQuiz exists to fix exactly that. It's a free companion you open on a phone at the table — keep your board, your pieces and your rules, and simply draw from our decks instead of the box. Every card has six questions across the familiar categories (Arts & Literature, Geography, History, Sports & Leisure, Science & Nature, Entertainment), and every question was written for Australian general knowledge.

What "Australian trivia cards" means to us

Roughly 40% of our questions have genuinely Australian subject matter — Eureka Stockade to INXS, Lake Eyre to the Melbourne Cup. The rest is international general knowledge chosen so an Australian household has a fair chance, with the UK-centric trivia deliberately left out.

A taste of the adults deck

Which Australian artist painted a famous series depicting Ned Kelly in his square black helmet?Sidney Nolan
Which legendary New Zealand-born gelding won the 1930 Melbourne Cup?Phar Lap
Which INXS frontman sang "Never Tear Us Apart"?Michael Hutchence

There are 200 cards — 1,200 questions — in the adults deck alone, and the deck deals like a real card box: no repeats until you've been through the lot.

Playing with kids too?

There's a whole second deck of 200 cards pitched at ages 8 and up, so the kids' turns come from questions they can actually reach. Read more about trivia questions for Australian kids.
